pretty pysanky

When I was still in elementary school, my mom (who majored in Russian) tried to teach us how to make Ukrainian easter eggs. I remember draining the egg through a pinhole, applying wax with a stylus, dying and re-dying the egg, and allowing it to sit over a flame so the wax would melt and reveal a beautiful design.

I would love to try it again. I wonder if Mom's up for re-teaching me. Here's a tutorial.

Those are so beautiful. Your mom would have been sorely disappointed in my Easter eggs as a kid. Actually, now too.

I loved doing these when we were young. Mom needs to break out the materials again so we can relearn.

Talk about advanced egg coloring. If anyone could do it, it would be the Anderson's.

We should do it with Pam again sometime. I bet I'd be much better this time around. Mom must have had loads of patience back then.
