swap: part II

Part II: What I Received

A play-by-play of the events of Tuesday afternoon. Getting a bundle of gifts before Christmas made me remember why Christmas is so fun---and why I spend hours and hours shopping around for the perfect gift for the people I love. This came from a complete stranger (a thoughtful one with good taste) and I came away touched. Seriously.

1 p.m. Doorbell rings. Find little black box outside my door.
Immediately reach for used-and-abused IKEA scissors.

1:15 p.m. The anticipation is killing me.
I'm like a kid in a candy shop.

1:18 p.m. Remove items one at a time.
Everything looks so pretty that I wonder if I should/could delay opening.

1:25 p.m. Cannot wait.
Unwrap slowly, giving each its moment to shine.
Am in awe of the lovely things I received.

01. Sweet handwritten note with artsy flower motif etched on envelope.
02. World Famous Caramel Corn from Garrett's in Chicago.
03. Swirly cherry-flavored lollipop.
04. "Santa Tea" from her favorite shop. Made with almonds, cinnamon, vanilla.
05. Luxurious Raspberry Lemon bar soap.
06. Delicious Ginger Lime bar soap.
07. Divine Coconut Banana bar soap. (I only use bar soap!)
08. 2008 Snow & Graham desk calendar. (Whoa is me and be still my heart.)

Thank you so very much, Alexis. I am beaming and overwhelmed with holiday cheer and so happy we were paired together, though you certainly outdid me.

p.s. Did you see her amazing wrapping? And also, that ladybug? I have a thing for ladybugs; how did she know? Ah, the mysticism of a good swap....
