j.crew goes mod

I never thought I'd live to see the day when an image like this would make its way onto the J.Crew homepage. What ever happened to their signature East Coast cottage with weathered shingles and all the plaid pajamas and seersucker shorts you could handle ... with a Cape Cod beach scene in the background?

Though unexpected, the Kaufmann Desert House is never a bad pick. Good move, J.Crew.

Completely, totally unexpected. It's preppy modern, West-Coast style. As an East-Coast transplant who grew up in the LA metro. area, I love that jcrew is mixing it up.

the are so smart about knowing what their audience likes. i am really really impressed with all their branding lately. it's pretty phenomenal.

When the catalog arrived I clipped these shots out immediately and added them to the "dream house" binder. If you want more of this kind of eye candy get: Palm Springs Modern: Houses in the California Desert (Hardcover)
by Adele Cygelman
I go back to this book again and again.

It's happened: I finally like JCrew again. I covet the stuff in their catalogue; their style went up a lot and prices came down a little.

That is my favorite house on the planet. It's getting a lot of work, too; I just saw it in another ad in a fashion magazine. Of course, that gorgeous house upstaged the product, which I cannot remember at all.

Could that house be any more fantastic?
