m. sasek

Hurrah that so many of M. Sasek's "This Is" books have been reissued. I would also love to see some of his artwork reproduced as prints. Wouldn't they be great decorating your walls? Here are some favorites ... if I had my pick(s).

Right now, I'm also feeling like tracking down a 1969 copy of this one. I'll be needing it.

beautiful illustrations! I only have San Francisco, which I bought while there on holiday -- obviously I'd love to have them all as part of my children's illustrated book collection...

do you know Rika Takada's work? It really reminds me of Miroslav Sasek http://www.weekendstroll.com/

How have I never seen these books before? I LOVE them! One of the (many) great things about having a baby is complete justification to build their library!

Ali-I lived in DC for 2 years and really loved it. Amazing (free!) museums&Zoo, Great restaurants, decent shopping and miserable humid summers. I'm looking forward to reading about your adventures there. Be sure to go to 2Amy's Pizza in Cleveland Park! : )

We have the "this is London" Joey got it for Christmas. and actually I learned a lot from it! They are really fun books! I will need to get the DC one as well!
When are you guys going out? and where are you thinking about living? We have been looking at tons of places, from out in Lorton to in DC itself... so hard to know!

Adorable! At one point I thought I'd start a collection. I thought they'd be so much fun to read to my kids some day. But I also love the idea of having framed prints. LOVE the Arch!

this is my favorite gift to give kids & friends! :) I also have a few in my apartment :) I love the artwork, and would totally love a print! :) The DC images bring back memories...I lived there about five years ago (i can't believe it has been that long ago!)

Sasek's "This is ..." series were my all time favourite books from my childhood. that these are now being reissued are cause for joy and celebration. That he has such a following is not at all surprising.
