thiebaud at smofa

Wayne Thiebaud is a family favorite. So when my sister who first got us on the Thiebaud train came into town a few weeks ago, we took it to the Springville Museum of Art. The exhibit, called "70 Years of Painting," is on through July 29. It's a really impressive collection, plus you get to see Thiebaud sketch an ice cream cone on film. My favorites were the bananas and the beach scenes.

Plus, it's free! More info here.

I just heard about this show the other day. It looks really good. I hope I can get down there before it leaves.

Found you blog on a room somewhere. I've lived in Utah for 7 years, have a degree in Art History, and STILL have never made it to the Springville Museum of Art! This post is good motivation. I'm going to have to go soon.

Oh, I forgot I was planning to get down there to see this. Thanks for the reminder!

I "discovered" Thiebaud when I was cataloging art books at the Merrill Library a few years back...and I thought he was awesome and also that I was the only one who knew about him :)

He's one of faves too, although I prefer his street scenes. Lovely pictures.
