crib bedding

Apparently, I'm not into the whole buy-your-bedding-as-a-complete-set thing. On the other hand, a 100% custom job isn't a realistic option either. I found a cute PB crib skirt and picked up some just-the-right-color sheets from Target. But now I need a crib bumper (one of the funnest parts) and I haven't been able to locate the right one---at least not without having to purchase all the pieces that come with the set.

Anyone know of a good place to look for sold-separately bedding pieces? Or did you have yours custom-made by someone whose craftmanship and prices you would recommend?

Advise me, please....

Above bedding from Nurseryworks. I like the simplicity of the pillow and quilt.

you might want to look into some of the studies about the dangers of bumpers. one less thing to worry about then. ;)

I'm having a hard time finding bedding too Ali, so if you find some good stuff, let me know.

I feel like I spent so much money on bedding - esp. the bumper when you use it for such a short period of time. What about a simple and safe option that I am planning for our next baby - a pretty white breathable bumper? Google it and you will find lots! Good luck! xx

Why not make one with some cute fabric? It might mean more to you. If your not up to it I would stick with Down East or something.

you know....now they are saying NOT to use a bumper. I can't remember the exact detail I think it was the same as for blankets, pillows and stuffed animals.
I would look it up but I chucked all the info when we miscarried.

Hey Ali, I found this tutorial to make your own sheets (don't know if you sew though). I'm planning to make some on my mom's sewing machine when I fly to Utah for the holidays.

Good luck on the bedding search. I'm not a big fan of packaged, complete sets either.

Oh, thanks Brittani! I actually bought some full-size sheets that I'm going to try and turn into crib sheets. Your tutorial is better than the one I found!

good luck, I'm Australian and you can't buy bumpers here, they are actually against safety regulations due to the impact on SIDS.
Cots can look beautiful and breezy without one. We are advised to sleep our children in sleeping bags (again due to the risk of SIDS), no blankets, pillows etc.. you can get very warm ones.
I put a pillow, covers, toys etc in my sons bed when he is not asleep and then remove them at night
