candles and spencer finch

Since seeing "My Business, With The Cloud" at The Corcoran last fall, artist Spencer Finch is quickly becoming my favorite. Today I am inspired by this colorful installation with pillar candles called "366 (Emily Dickinson's Miraculous Year)." Its progression looks beautiful and exciting, if slow. Maybe especially because it would have been slow.

Wow, what a great installation. I have never heard of him, but I love what I saw on his site. The bright color and boldness are fantastic. Thanks for sharing this!

I have never in my life looked at a melted candle and thought, "How luscious!" until now. Then again, I've never seen such expertly melted candles until now. Thank you for featuring so many artists - you've really been opening my eyes to what's out there in the art world.

Love all the art posts! Spencer Finch is totally your artist. Seeing him at the Corcoran with you was such a fun day--you were the perfect person to go with! I like seeing the word through your eyes.

(Oscar was a pretty fun companion, too :)

very cool. so interesting! The corcoran is near and dear to my heart-- i almost went there for my BFA. I still remember exhibits I've seen there. Have you seen the carved marble bust of a woman that is covered in lace? That is my favorite piece in the whole museum.
