ooey gooey goodness

Well, I know I said that my blog was dedicated to pretty and tasty desserts, but this one might be just tasty. I can't even say that the picture doesn't do the brownies justice because this is pretty much what they look like. The taste, however, is something else if you enjoy chocolate, caramel, and more chocolate. Plus, they're super easy. Here's the recipe:

Caramel Brownies

Ingredients:

1 package German chocolate cake mix
50 light caramels (either from bins or in the candy aisle)
1 5 oz. can (small) evaporated milk
3/4 c. butter, melted
1 c. chocolate chips (I like less)

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Unwrap caramels, melt in pan on stovetop with 1/3 c. evaporated milk. (Set rest of milk aside.)
3. Grease and four 9" x 13" pan.
4. In mixing bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter and rest of can of evaporated milk (1/3 c.)
5. Pat half of the cake mixture into baking pan and bake for 6 minutes at 350 degrees.
6. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips and drizzle melted caramel over half-baked brownies. Crumble remaining cake mixture on top and bake an additional 15-18 minutes.
7. Cool and refridgerate to set up.

I like to make these a day in advance. On the second day, the consistency is just right--easy to pick up, not so messy and the perfect blend of cake and fudge.
