best of best

NPR has posted its voted-in results of the best CDs of 2006. Sadly, I only own one of the ten albums, and I've never even heard anything by one of the bands--at least not that I'm aware of (TV on the Radio). You can see the list below or get more info here:

10. Regina Spektor: Begin to Hope
9. Tom Waits: Orphans
8. Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins: Rabbit Fur Coat
7. Cat Power: The Greatest
6. Joanna Newsom: Ys
5. TV on the Radio: Return to Cookie Mountain
4. M. Ward: Post War
3. Bob Dylan: Modern Times
2. Neko Case: Fox Confessor Brings the Flood

Drum roll, please....

1. The Decemberists: The Crane Wife

What a nice list! Lucky for me, I do have some of these albums, and I adore all of them. Let me know if you're up for a burning session!

LaceyJane, you always know I'm up for it. But usually I like to have something to offer, too. Hopefully Santa will bring me an album or two.
