christina's world

One of the greatest things Domino ever did for me was compile that "art-school photography" guide back in June 2006. I visited the Domino site yesterday to browse the inspiration galleries, and the art guide was being re-featured. I had forgotten how much I loved it.

This photo is "Bales" by Christina Dixcy. I adore it. After visiting Curtis's family cabin last May, I remember thinking that I needed to talk Brad into driving through Idaho with me so he could take photos of the bales in that part of the country. For me. I wanted to blow up a photo times ten and hang it above my bed for good dreams. Big skies and green fields are good for that.

Inadvertently, Christina became my inspiration for finally taking the camera into my own hands. I can't wait to drive through Idaho later this year. Though I've attempted to capture my own "bales," I can only hope that next time around, my photos of this landscape can turn out as big, airy, beautiful and slightly desolate as hers.

See more here.

I love the idea of this print over a bed. It just encourages restful dreaming, doesn't it?

Can't wait to see what you come up with from your own lens!

One of the most charming things about you is that you are creative and artistic and dress fabulously...and yet you love the countryside and bales of hay.

This photo is glorious on its own, but your idea to put it over your bed is positively amazing!

oh yes, drive through Idaho indeed. dlb is from Idaho, and has the most incredible pictures that he has taken there. double rainbows, glittering snow storms, lakes, and fields of flowers. absolute beauty.
