Stop No. 5: Cinque Terre
The five, once-secluded oceanside towns making up the Cinque Terre are hot, hot hotter than ever---and in more ways than one. First, because every cruise ship and tourist seems to stop here (unlike last time I visited in '01) and because I almost passed out from heat exhaustion hiking (read: high-stepping) from Vernazza to Corniglia. But it's all worth it. Especially if gelato is involved. There's no place like these: cute beaches, colorful townships, blue ocean views, oceanside walks, charming vistas and a genuine attempt at remaining somewhat authentic....

Oh those pictures are breathtaking. I was just in Italy last March and we didn't have time to go to Cinque Terre. I heard that the hiking can be a bit rough there. My sister did it when she was studying abroad and it was one of her favorite trips.
I hope you treated yourself to lots of Gellato. I loved the Gellato with the BACI chocolate in them. Yum
