two movies

Saw two movies in one day. I don't remember the last time this happened, but it was kind of awesome---like I was really dabbling in luxury and nothing-to-do-at-all-ness with my favorite partner in crime/laziness. With a little basketball game with the fam in between.

First up was "Juno." Loved it. Story, filming and acting were all pretty fabulous. (Ellen Page is adorable and my idea of Bella---if I liked Bella, which I don't. I think she is boring.) Kimya Dawson is brilliant. Can't wait for the soundtrack. The music in this film was kind of off the charts, in a finding-and-making-the-perfect-fit kind of way. The "I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else" song is sweet and smart and funny.

Watched "Waitress" On Demand, and was let down a little. It made me depressed, despite a happy ending. Maybe I didn't get it. Or maybe it wasn't a good fit for my sense of humor. Maybe I need to give it a little more credit for being made independently and just take it for what it is. Because that Keri Russel is undeniably cute.

Also watched "Once" again on Christmas Day and loved it more than ever.

Once - it's top of my netflix list yet I keep insisting on holding onto three netflix films that I've SEEN BEFORE yet haven't watched in the month I've had them. your reminder of how good Once is (I've not seen it yet) is getting me to mail in already-viewed films and get Once to watch!

Juno - I'm holding my breath until I can see this film. Cannot wait!

Waitress - it took awhile to grow on me but once it ended, I did NOT want it to end. I wanted to go "no, no, no...this isn't happening!" It did.

This is the best time of the year for watching films, I am hanging out to see Juno also. Once is without a doubt my favourite film of this past year, just so beautiful in every way. I watched Paris Je t'aime last night and thought that was great, some I liked and some I disliked but it such a lovely idea

Finally! I'm so excited. I also thought Bella was a little boring...but loved the story so much. Thanks for being brave and saying that "out loud!"

loved waitress. watched it with tos, though and he thought it was ridiculous. i just couldn't stop laughing the whole time unless i wanted to cry: a little dark i guess.

Ali-I'm a bit behind everyone. I think I took a blogging vacation around the holidays!

I wanted to say that Juno was absolutely fantastic in every way! I also went straight home and bought the soundtrack and I think Hallie's gonna murder me if I play it one more time...

...Funny, we also saw waitress over our "break," and I found it very hard to like. I have a really hard time with movies that deal with infidelity though, always have.

Once is growing on me. I'm sold on the music (another soundtrack Hallie has heard more than her fair share of), but the movie was kind of bland to me. I didn't feel like there was a lot of progression or evolution in it and that it just randomly ended. But heaven be thanked for the beautiful soundtrack!
